6th Grade Concert Calendar
Concerts are a wonderful opportunity for our students to showcase all of the progress they are making as a group. The support and encouragement of family and friends in the audience makes concerts even more memorable for students. Please mark the dates below in your family calendar and always feel free to invite your family and friends to our free concerts. All of our concerts this year will take place at the Jenison Center for the Arts. Students must report 30 minutes prior to the start of the concert to warm-up and prepare as a group. For their uniform, students will wear their Jenison Band Shirt that is ordered on a separate sheet, along with a pair of nice jeans. We expect all of our students to remain in the audience after they perform on stage to support the other Jenison band members.
Thursday, October 24 Fall Concert 6:30 pm, JCAThis first concert will feature the 6th grade and High School Marching Band. We expect this concert to last about 50 minutes. It should be an exciting program that will showcase what your students have learned in the first weeks of band along with giving them the opportunity to hear the exciting marching band that they can be a part of in just a few short years. Students must report at 6:00 pm. There will be a second concert that evening at 8:15pm showcasing our JH Bands and another repeat performance by the high school marching band. Students are not required to attend this second concert.
Tuesday, January 28 Winter Concert 7:30 pm, JCA
The second concert of the year features our beginners playing more complex music in which they are no longer playing unison parts. After playing a couple of pieces on their own, they will be joined by our top high school band, the Wind Symphony and the 8th grade band. Combined together, they make an awesome group! Typically this concert lasts 30-40 minutes. Students must report at 7:00 pm.
Tuesday, May 13 Spring Concert 6:30 pm, JCA
The final concert of the year features the 6th grade band. It is a night in which we celebrate the achievements made by the students during the school year and their tremendous progress. We expect this concert to be about 30 minutes as we have a second concert that evening for the 7th and 8th grade bands that will start at 8pm. Students are not required to attend this second concert.
