6th Grade Band Belts
During the 6th grade year we want to encourage students to always have musical goals during their practice time. One of their goals should be perfecting their next "Band Belt", and we will announce these exercises in class. Each year students should work to achieve as many belts as they can. Students may master these musical exercises at different times, and that is fine. They are all learning at different rates, but it is our hope that students will always have a belt song to be practicing at home. Once a student feels they have all of the notes and rhythms perfected on a piece, they may play their belt song for one of the band directors. If a student needs to fix a few things, we will help them figure out what needs to be practiced to earn their belt when they try again. If a student earns their belt, they will receive it and may attach it to the provided key ring. Since we have very large classes, we will do our best to listen to students before class in the morning and occasionally during our rehearsals.
